Intimate Part Douching

Helpful or Harmful? And are there Problems Caused by Intimate Part Douching?

What is intimate part douching? It is a method to wash out the intimate part, usually with a mixture of water and vinegar. Uncommon among the Asian market but still in existence, douching is a method to wash out the intimate part with a mixture of vinegar and water. This method can upset the delicate balance in the intimate part ecosystem.

Some of the disorders that can be caused by it are mentioned as follows:

Bacterial vaginosis: Douching upsets the natural balance of bacteria in the intimate part (called vaginal flora). These changes make the environment more favorable for the growth of bacteria that cause infection. Studies have found that women who stopped douching were less likely to have bacterial vaginosis.

Pelvic inflammatory diseases (PID): PID is an infection of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and/or ovaries. Research has found that women who douche may have a 73% higher risk of getting PID.

Irritation and intimate part dryness: Douching will result in intimate part drying which in turn will cause irritation and itching.

Basically in short and according to health experts, you should avoid douching altogether. Having some intimate part odour is completely normal. However, if you notice a very strong odour, it could be a sign of infection thus this means paying your local gynecologist a visit.
